NFHUKPRO2Emendo, along with our partners OrionHealth and Optima, was one of the great New Zealand companies recently featured in the "Now for Hospitals" magazine in the UK.

Major reform is on its way in the UK to redesign the NHS to cope with the increasing expense and demands of an aging population.  Faced with the enormous challenge of delivering higher levels of care at reduced costs, the NHS has increased its demand for innovative health IT and medical devices to improve efficiency, reduce costs and provide better levels of service delivery.  A number of New Zealand companies have proven products and solutions that can assist the NHS with this demand.

New Zealand is building an international reputation for the quality of its innovative health informatics offerings.  Key areas of ICT focus within the healthcare environment in New Zealand include applications that assist in patient care and public health management, data transfer between sites, and network and storage security.

For example, Orion Health is a leading provider of clinical workflow and integration technology for the healthcare sector.  Orion Health's software products are used around the world, including Sherwood Forest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Nottinghamshire to implement a clincial pathway to support the Haematology Teleclinic and to upgrade the existing interface at Sandwell General Hospital (part of Sandwell and Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust), which will provide a modern platform for future interface development and assist compliance to national electronic records guidelines. www.orionhealth.com.

Another Kiwi company, Emendo Ltd, has developed CapPlan which improves operational performance in hospitals using predictive analytics to accurate match resources with demand for services.  In the UK, NHS Trust, Bedford Hospital and Northampton General Hospital have both improved capacity planning and bed management through cost efficiencies, by implementing CapPlan. www.emendohealth.com.

Thirdly, The Optima Corporation uses advanced mathematical-based technology to provide sophisticated optimisation and simulation solutions to the Emergency Services, enabling a reduction in costs whilst improving operational effectiveness. www.theoptimacorporation.com.
